  • No common denominator needed
  • 2/3 × 3/5 = 6/15 = 2/5
  • Cross-cancel before multiplying to keep numbers small

Divide

  • Keep, Change, Flip — keep the first, change ÷ to ×, flip the second
  • 3/4 ÷ 2/5 = 3/4 × 5/2 = 15/8
  • The flipped fraction is the reciprocal

Whole Numbers

  • Write a whole number over 1: 5 = 5/1
  • 6 ÷ 1/3 = 6 × 3 = 18 — dividing by a fraction makes it bigger
