You can retake the TEAS. Almost everyone who asks this question has already found three different answers about how soon and how often, and all three were probably true somewhere, because the limits come from your nursing programme rather than from ATI.
Three questions to ask your programme
- How many attempts count in one application cycle? Two or three is common. Some programmes cap lifetime attempts.
- How long must I wait between attempts? Thirty days is the most common requirement; some schools ask for sixty, and a few have no waiting period at all.
- Which score do you use? This is the one people forget. Some take your highest, some the most recent, some average your attempts. If yours averages, a hasty retake can lower the number that decides your application.
What a second attempt should look like
A retake that repeats the first study plan tends to repeat the first score. The score report is the fix: it breaks your result into topic areas, and those areas are the plan. If your total was pulled down by Science, more Reading practice will not move it, however much better it feels to study.
Give yourself enough time to actually change something
If the gap between attempts is thirty days, that is four weekends. It is enough to fix one or two weak areas properly and not enough to relearn everything. Pick the two topic areas with the largest gap between your score and your target, and spend the month there.
When a retake is not the answer
If you cleared your programme's minimum and it treats the TEAS as pass or fail, another attempt gains you nothing and risks a lower score on file. Check whether your school ranks applicants by score or simply screens on it, because that decides whether the effort belongs on the exam or on the rest of your application.
