8 conversions to know cold, not compute

Math is 36 questions in 57 minutes. Anything you calculate from scratch is time you do not have.

A calculator is provided on the TEAS, which is exactly why these matter: the clock is lost to setting the problem up, not to the arithmetic. Recognise these on sight and the question becomes one keystroke.

1 1/2 · 0.5 · 50%the anchor — halve or double from here.

2 1/4 · 0.25 · 25%and 3/4 · 0.75 · 75%.

3 1/3 · 0.333… · 33.3%and 2/3 · 0.666… · 66.7%. Never exact as a decimal.

4 1/5 · 0.2 · 20%fifths are the easiest percentage family: 20, 40, 60, 80.

5 1/8 · 0.125 · 12.5%eighths double from 12.5: 25, 37.5, 50.

6 1 inch = 2.54 cmthe only imperial–metric length conversion worth memorising.

7 1 kg = 2.2 lband 1 L = 1.06 qt. Both appear in dosage-style items.

8 °C → °F = (°C × 9/5) + 32and back: (°F − 32) × 5/9.
