Four ways to take the TEAS
ATI offers the same TEAS 7 exam in four settings. The test itself does not change: 170 questions, 209 minutes of testing time and a 10-minute break after Math. What changes is who proctors you and what software you use.
Cost: TEAS at ATI is $120 plus applicable sales tax, and TEAS at PSI is also $120 whether you test in person or remotely. Schools set their own price for exams they run. TEAS registrations are non-refundable, and each retake is a new registration at full price.
Before exam day: device, hours and booking
Set up early. Most remote problems are technical or administrative, not about the test content.
Timing trap: you must be actively testing by the cutoff, meaning past the pre-checks and on your first Reading question. If you are not, you are turned away with no refund or reschedule. ATI recommends signing in at least 30 minutes early.
- Use a Windows or Mac laptop or desktop, or an iPad. ATI does not support Chromebooks for remote testing.
- You need administrator rights to install Respondus LockDown Browser, and it must be the latest version on exam day.
- On an iPad, lock the orientation and prop it upright. Do not lay it flat.
- Do a dry run on the same computer, in the same room, on the same internet connection.
- All times are Central Time: 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Mondays, 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 7:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Saturdays.
- Rescheduling an exam booked on atitesting.com costs $15 and must be done at least 48 hours ahead.

Check-in: the nine pre-checks
Before your first question, the software walks you through nine steps, and a proctor approves you before the exam starts. ATI proctors do not chat; if you are stopped, a message on screen tells you why.
Your ID must be a physical, current, government-issued photo ID, and the first and last name must match your ATI account exactly. Photocopies, printouts and phone photos are not accepted. A missing ID photo or a name mismatch is the most common reason exams are stopped or flagged.
- Terms of use, webcam check, additional instructions, and guidelines and tips
- Student photo, then a photo of your ID
- Environment check: clear the area and show your surroundings on camera
- Facial detection check, then begin the exam
Room and desk rules
Remote proctoring only works if the camera can see a clean, private space. These are ATI's rules for TEAS at ATI.
Destroy your scratch paper when you finish. You may not keep notes from the exam.
- Test alone in a quiet, private room where no one will enter. Cars, coffee shops and open library areas are not allowed.
- Keep your back away from a window or open doorway, sit against a plain wall and light your face evenly.
- On the desk: only your computer, your ID, and one blank 8½ x 11 sheet of paper or a small dry-erase whiteboard, plus two writing instruments.
- No drinks (not even water), food, tissues, phones, smartwatches or smart glasses.
- Headphones and headsets are allowed only with an approved accommodation.
- No hats or head coverings, except religious coverings such as a hijab.

During the exam: calculator, camera and breaks
Personal calculators are not allowed. A drop-down calculator is built into the exam screen, so practice math with an on-screen calculator beforehand. You cannot print, copy, open other applications or visit other websites.
Stay centered on camera for the whole exam. The optional 10-minute break after the Math section is the only time you may leave the camera's view; leaving at any other time can be flagged. If something interrupts you, briefly explain it out loud to your webcam.
Sections always run in the same order: Reading (55 minutes), Math (57), Science (60), then English and Language Usage (37). When a section's time ends, it closes and unanswered questions count as incorrect. There is no guessing penalty, so answer everything. If a technical problem hits, exit and call ATI at 1-844-956-2790; your answers save as you go.
After the exam: flags and scores
You will not be told during the exam if something was flagged. If your exam is held for review, ATI Test Security emails you. That is why the check-in rules matter so much: most problems start with ID or room issues, not with the test itself.
For TEAS at ATI, a preliminary score appears in your ATI account right away and becomes final four business days after your exam date. Your registration includes one transcript credit, which you send from the Results tab; each additional school costs $29.99.
School-proctored and PSI remote: what's different
TEAS Online at Institution is proctored by your school, most often with Proctorio in Google Chrome, though some schools use Respondus instead. Follow your school's instructions over ATI's general ones. Your score goes to that school automatically.
If you choose PSI's remote option, PSI runs the exam. Expect PSI's Secure Browser, a 360° room scan, no headset or earbuds, and PSI's own technical requirements. ATI handles only the purchase and the transcript, and PSI scores can take up to 48 hours to post.
Whichever version you take, the content is identical. The quiz on this page draws from the CinnaEntry bank of 5,260 TEAS and HESI A2 questions, starting with the Reading and Math skills you face in the first two sections.
